Access to online ERIC documents
from computers on the APSU network is automatic through ERIC.
See
How
to search ERIC.
Many ERIC documents from 1993 to the present are available online in
PDF format. To view or print the documents, Adobe Acrobat reader
must be installed on your computer. The reader is available free
from http://www.adobe.com/.
To enable direct access from ERIC:
-
Before entering ERIC, log on to the Online ERIC Documents
site. You may do this by clicking "Online ERIC
Documents" from any subject page that has a link to ERIC or by
going to (http://library.apsu.edu/inform/21Eric.htm)
-
Enter your User ID and click log on.
-
You'll see a page with "ERIC Document Reproduction Service
E*Subscribe" at the top.
-
Click your browser's Back button twice, until you return to the ERIC
page (or the subject page).
-
Click "Search ERIC" (or "ERIC" on a subject page) to
enter ERIC. Search as usual.
If a document is available online, the ERIC record will include an EDRS
document link containing an URL (internet address). When the URL in the
EDRS document link field is clicked, a separate browser window
will open containing the document details. Click the PDF icon (the
first icon, with a red squiggle on it) to view or print the document. Large documents may take
several minutes to download. To print, click your browser's print
button. If the document is large, it may be necessary to print the
document in sections (pages 1-15, then 16-30, etc) depending upon the
memory of the computer and/or the printer.
To return to the ERIC database, close the document window. Or,
use the buttons on the windows task bar at the bottom of the screen to
switch between the two windows.
