To search for a subject:
Click in the search box, type in a word or phrase describing your
subject. You can limit your search in various ways by using the boxes
located below the search box. Click the Search button.
To display results:
When your search succeeds, a list of relevant subjects or
citations appears. To view the records associated with your subject,
click View (some subjects may also
have a Narrow by subdivision or See also related subjects
button). The matching records appear in the citation format -
title, author(s) and where the article is published. Many of them will
have abstracts or full text (i.e. the whole article). You can see the
abstract or the full text of a record by clicking the link to Abstract
or Text. To return to the list of
citations, click Citations in the left column.
Library holdings:
A Library holdings link means
that Woodward Library owns some volumes of that publication
(not necessarily the volume that includes the article). To see which
volumes Woodward Library owns, click Library
holdings. Most of the items listed in the databases that
are owned by Woodward Library are located on Level 1.
To Mark Items and Print:
Mark items that you want by clicking the Mark box to the
left of the citation. When ready to print the marked items click View
mark list in the left column. Click Print or E-mail in the
left column, then choose Reformat under Browser Print. Once the
list has been reformatted choose Print from the gray print box
that pops up.
To Mark Items and Download:
Mark the items you want by clicking the Mark box to the left
of the citation. When ready to download the marked items click View
mark list in the left column. Click Print or E-mail in the
left column, then choose Reformat under Browser Print. Then
insert a 3 1/2" disk in the computer's A: drive. Choose Save
As from the File menu, change the Save In: to 3
1/2" floppy (A:) and change the Save as type: to text
(*.txt). Type a name for your file in File Name. Click Save.
To E-mail:
Mark the items you want by clicking the Mark box to the left
of the citation. When ready to e-mail the marked items click View
mark list in the left column. Click Print or E-mail in the
left column, and type your full e-mail address in the E-mail Delivery
box at the bottom of the screen. Click Submit Request.
To perform another search or to go back:
To return to the search screen, click Search in the left
column. To return to the list of citations, click Citations in
the left column.
Advanced Search:
Advanced Search allows you to restrict your search to one or more
fields. To access, click Advanced Search in the left column.
Your previous search results will carry over into Advanced Search. You
may use them to construct a new search without re-keying.
Example: You have already done a search on acid rain. Access
Advanced Search and your search will display as
R1 su "acid
rain"
You can type R1 in the search box and combine it with other words
or phrases to refine your search: R1 AND New York. Then click
the Search button.
To exit:
Click the Home button on the browser.
