Wiley InterScience provides citations, abstracts and full text articles
from over 300 leading scientific, technical, medical and professional
journals published by John Wiley & Sons. The subject areas covered
include Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Education,
Engineering, Finance, Law, Life and Medical Sciences, Management,
Mathematics, Physics, Psychology and Statistics. The Woodward Library
does not have access to every full text article indexed in this
database. Woodward Library does have full text availability of all the titles
listed here. Additionally, the online "Book "and
"Reference Works" are not accessible through the Woodward
Library's license agreement. "Book Finder" does provide access
to chapter summaries.
Access from on campus, or off-campus with individual account
(see Access From Off-Campus, below, for instructions)
How to Search Wiley InterScience
Basic Journal Search:
Click "Search Wiley InterScience" box at bottom of page.
For a basic search, enter your words or phrase and choose what group of
journals in which to search. You should either search "All
Journals" or limit to a particular subject category (Business,
Finance & Management, Chemistry, etc.) from the drop down menu. You
can also sort your results by publication date or search relevance. When
you are ready, click the Search button.
To Access Articles:
Click "PDF Full Text." The article (if available) will open
in Adobe Acrobat reader. If Acrobat is not loaded on your computer, you
may download it free from http://www.adobe.com.
Those accessible items that are available via "HTML Full
Text" may or may not have the full text available.
Since the library does not have access to all the indexed journals in
InterScience, you will occasionally get the following message when you
attempt to access the article:
Wiley InterScience is unable to give you access to
this content. REASON: You do not have a current License for this
content.
For articles not available from Wiley InterScience, check Felix Online
Catalog for the journal title (see Accessing
Articles from Periodicals for more information).
Hot Journals and Personal Home Page:
Users can create personal logins to Wiley InterScience if desired. If you
want to use InterScience from off-campus, you MUST create a personal
login. Additionally, with personal logins, users can select certain
journals as their "Hot Journals"- your own list of the Wiley
journals that most interest you and when logged in, can call up the
table of contents from the most recent, available issue instantly.
Additionally, users can save their special searches. This function
enables you to retrieve, edit, and re-run the search to find new or
archived material matching your query parameters.
Advanced Journal Searching
Use Advanced Journal searching if you have specific title words,
authors, author's affiliation (a company or university), funding agency,
abstract words or phrases, keywords or have combinations of the above
(author and abstract, title words and funding agency, etc). Advanced
Journal searching also allows limiting your results to date ranges of
issues.
Printing
If the item is available via "PDF Full Text", when the
Acrobat reader opens the article, select the print button on the Acrobat
reader to print the item out. If the item is available via "HTML
Full Text", select the "Printable view" button toward the
top of the page to maximize the print area and click the browser print
button.
Access from Off Campus (only available for 90 day increments)
To access Wiley InterScience from off campus you will have to become a
registered user. You will need to create your user account while on
campus. You create your user account by selecting "Become a
Registered User" at Wiley InterScience's homepage. Fill in the
appropriate information.
Once you have created your login, you will need to go to your
Personal Homepage while you are still on campus and select the
"License Sources" icon. At the bottom of the License Sources
page, you will find the option to click through and activate roaming
access. Once this roaming access is activated, you will have remote
access for 90 days. At the end of that 90 days, you will need to
reactivate your roaming access by logging in, ON-CAMPUS, to your
Personal Homepage and active roaming access again.
If you are a distance or online student who cannot come to campus,
please contact the library (use Ask A Librarian, above) to activate an
account for you.
