The titles slated for cancellation are presented for review by faculty. The
decision to cancel journals is a difficult one. We librarians
mourn with the teaching faculty the loss of so many valuable resources.
I greatly appreciate the cooperation and assistance that the Library
has received from the faculty throughout this process. With few exceptions,
the decisions about which journals to cancel were made by the library liaisons in
cooperation with other faculty in the departments. When departments could not reach
agreement, I selected the titles to-be-cancelled based on low usage as indicated by five
years of data collected during the shelving process.
Please review the titles listed. If you think a title is listed in error or
absolutely must be saved, please contact your departmental library liaison or
Ms. Philenese Slaughter, x7741, slaughterp@apsu.edu.
Ms. Slaughter will accept comments until May 10, 2002. I would like to be able to
say that we will be able to save some of these journals from the budgetary axe. Unfortunately,
the budget situation is grim. In most cases, any title removed from the to-be-cancelled
list must be replaced by another of equal value.
