Serepta Jordan's daily diary of life in New Providence, Tennessee from the fall of 1857 to the summer of 1864 enriches Civil War history with a unique female voice. The diary editors relay Jordan's local news reports and war updates while preserving her thoughts and feelings about the Civil War and those involved in the conflict. Jordan's diary includes details about her daily activities and social life, providing a fascinating look at life in the Clarksville area more than 150 years ago.
