Library Budget Committee

Description

The duties and obligations of the Committee shall be as follows:

  1. To provide guidance in the preparation of the annual library budget and in deliberations and decisions relevant to the apportioning and reapportioning of funds among its specific fiscal divisions, especially when such deliberations of proposed reallocation of funds is deemed to impact academic effectiveness.
  2. To represent the research interests of every college and department and interpret the needs of students, faculty, and staff to the Library Director relative to resource matters.
  3. By special assignment, to investigate opportunities to improve the use of budgeted funds and make recommendations to the Library Director.
  4. Solicit input from library faculty and staff relative to committee recommendations and provide direct communication regarding the addition of new purchases and cancelation of existing resources in a timely manner.

Meeting Frequency

The Budget Committee will meet once per semester and on an as needed basis.

Membership

The Woodward Library Budget Committee will consist of one staff or faculty member from each library unit: Access Services, Administration, Resource Mangement and Digital Services, Research and Instruction, and Technology Resources. The Coordinator of Resource Management will serve as the ex officio chair of the committee, and the Electronic Resources Librarian, Resource Management Assistant - Monographs, and Collections and Resources Library Associate serve as ex officio members due to their work with the budget each year.

Members will serve staggered two-year terms. A one-year break must occur before serving again. If possible, members will be selected to ensure diverse representation in Subject Librarian areas.

The committee may invite non-members to participate in meetings when additional feedback is required.
