Scrap book pages from two different books kept by Dix containing
articles and photos. Most items are newspaper clippings of poems and
brief articles. Some are clippings about Center College in Danville,
Kentucky and one clipping about a horse race in Harrodsburg, KY., July
28 [no year]
1. Writings by others saved by Dix in her scrap book: The Rhyme of the
Restless Rover, Not As I Will, A Story Of Eden, Satisfied and Life’s
Story (original on the back of III.13, 10).
2. Danville, Kentucky, Center College (which Carrie Nation attended) and
“Danville Colt Wins,” 4 pages of clippings, ns.,nd.
3. An assortment of about 55 newspaper and magazine articles pasted on
both sides of the pages. One titled “The Sister of a Poet,” about the
relationship between Dorothy Wordsworth and her brother William. Dorothy
Dix read Wordsworth’s writings while being educated by her personal
tutor at her childhood home Woodstock, Kentucky. Elizabeth Meriwether
Gilmer took the pseudonym “Dorothy because I like it,” she said. Dix’
brother’s name was William, ns.,nd.
