Book Reviews

Book reviews are very useful when you are trying to evaluate a book. They

  • appear in the year the book is published, as well as 2-3 years later

  • are found in periodicals (magazines, newspapers and journals)

  • range in length from very short (100 words or less) to fairly long (5 pages or more)

  • indicate whether the book is important and how easy it is to read

You can identify book reviews through

  • Book Review Digest - online database searchable by title, author, keywords, subject heading, ISBN, call number and more

  • InfoTrac - for books published since 1980

  • Book Review Index (Ref Z1035 .A1 B6) - for books published 1965 to present

  • Book Review Digest (Ref Z 1219 .C95) – for books published 1905 to present

Ask at the Information Desk for additional assistance in finding book reviews.
