Ulrich's Periodicals Directory includes basic information
about magazines, journals, newspapers, newsletters, 'zines and more. The Austin Peay Library does NOT
own all of these periodicals. (To see what periodical titles are in
or are accessible from the APSU Library, use Felix
Online Catalog, or to see a guide to help you find periodicals in
the library click on "How
to Access Periodicals")
To Search for a Periodical:
Click in the Quick Search box, type in a word or phrase
describing your subject and click the Submit button. Note you
can search by ISSN, Keyword, Subject, Title (Exact), or Title
(Keyword)
To Display Results:
When your search succeeds, a list of items appears. To view
detailed information on the item, click on the title. Click the
tabs at the top of the record to see other available information.
Use the TOC button to traverse from publication year, to
volume, to issue to view a particular issues table of contents.
To Select Items and Print:
On the Search Results page, select the items that you want
by clicking the box to the left of the title. In the bottom right-hand
corner of the page click Print. Choose
Brief or Full Record Information, select any additional
types of information desired, and click Go. Once the
records are displayed, choose Print from the File menu
of your browser. YOU MUST PRINT FROM EACH SEARCH RESULTS PAGE;
IT WILL NOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU SELECTED IF YOU MOVE TO ANOTHER PAGE.
To Select Items and Download:
On the Search Results page, select the items that you want
by clicking the box to the left of the title. In the bottom right-hand
corner of the page click Download. Select
the format desired (use ASCII unless you are loading the
results into a spreadsheet program), choose Brief or Full
Record Information, select any additional types of information
desired, and click Go. A gray File Download box will
appear. Choose Save this file to disk and click OK.
Insert a 3 1/2" disk in the computer's floppy drive and change
the Save In: to 3 1/2" floppy (A:) Type a name for
your file in File Name. Click Save. YOU MUST
DOWNLOAD FROM EACH SEARCH RESULTS PAGE; IT WILL NOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU
SELECTED IF YOU MOVE TO ANOTHER PAGE.
To Select Items and E-mail:
On the Search Results page, select the items that you want
by clicking the box to the left of the title. In the bottom right-hand
corner of the page click E-mail. Choose
Brief or Full Record Information, and select any
additional types of information desired. Type your e-mail
address in the box, and add a subject or comments if desired. Click Go.

WHAT YOU SELECTED IF YOU MOVE TO ANOTHER PAGE.
To Perform Another Search:
To return to the search screen, click the Search button at
the top of the page.
To Find out if the Austin Peay Library Owns a Periodical:
Go to the Library's homepage and click on Felix
Online Catalog. Enter the periodical title in the "Title starts with"
box.
Advanced Search:
Access Advanced Search by clicking the Search button at the
top right side of the page. Advanced searching allows you to restrict your
search to one or more specific fields, such as title, ISSN, subject,
publisher/distributor, or keyword. You may also limit by start
year, end year, circulation, price, publisher, country, language,
frequency, document available through, and reviewed by.
Choose to have your result sorted by using the "Sort results
by:" drop down menu. Also, make use of the selection buttons
under the headings "Status", "Features",
"Serial Type"
Search for Refereed Journals:
Use Advanced Search and click on "Refereed Journals" under
"Features"
To Exit:
To exit Ulrich's Periodicals Directory, click Logout in the upper right
corner of any screen. |
