Article Help

Opening your Article

Clicking the PDF button on the article view page should open the article automatically within your default PDF reader program.

Tip: You need a PDF reader to download, save, and print JSTOR articles. If you don't have a PDF reader, download Adobe Reader for free.

If clicking the PDF button on the article view page does not launch a PDF viewer, try the following:

  1. Right click on the PDF button.
  2. Choose "save as" from the right click option menu.
  3. Name the PDF and choose a location to save the file.
  4. Open your PDF reader.
  5. Use the PDF reader's File menu to open the PDF of your article.

Saving your Article

Once the PDF of your article is open in your PDF viewer, use the PDF viewer's File menu and select "Save as" to save the file.

Printing your Article

JSTOR uses high-resolution images to store and display journal pages. You cannot print article pages by using the "Print" button on your web browser. To print an article, you must first:

  1. Open the article in your PDF reader.
  2. Go to the PDF reader's File menu and choose "Print."

Tip: If you use your web browser to print your article, the printout will be of poor quality, parts of it may be cropped, and the printed copy will contain all of the web page objects that appear around the article
