The Scribner Writers Series includes more than 2,060 essays
on authors of all nationalities and time periods. Many authors are seen
from multiple perspectives in two, three, or even four essays--a broad
biocritical overview as well as specialized treatments. Each essay
includes a concise introductory preface and a biography placing the
author's work within a personal and historical framework.
Items from the
Scribner Writers Series
are also contained within the
Literature Resource Center. Searching for authors and titles
within this database will return results from the
Scribner Writers Series
database combined with items from other literature resources.
To search the
Scribner Writers Series
database individually from Literature Resource Center, select
Advanced Search
and choose one of the "Scribner
Writers Series" from the list
of databases located under "Limit the current search" near the
bottom of the screen.
Major Search Paths
The entire contents of The Scribner
Writers Series is searchable in several ways, designed to facilitate
the literary research process. The following search paths offer the user
various approaches to discovering information about authors and their
works:
- Writers A-Z. Enables the user
to quickly select an author name or topic from a comprehensive list
to find all documents pertaining to that author or topic.
- In Depth Search. Enables the
user to design a specific search using such criteria as Author Name,
Genre, Time Period, Gender, Nationality/Ethnicity, and Full Text.
- Research Ideas. Lists
curriculum-related topics and the authors associated with them,
providing the user a convenient starting point for research.
