SUBJECT: Circulation Policy

I. Policy
General Policy
All library materials including laptop computers, reserve items, recordings,
audiovisual materials, and certain types of audiovisual equipment are
checked out at the Circulation/Reserve Desk located on level II near the
main entrance. All materials checked out at the Circulation/Reserve Desk
must be returned to the Circulation/Reserve Desk or to the outside book
drops labeled "Book Depository" which are located to the left
of the front entrance. Records, laptops, equipment, and large books do not fit
into the book drops and must be returned to the Circulation/Reserve Desk
inside the Library.
A. Borrowing Privileges
Austin Peay State University faculty, faculty emeritus, faculty
retired, adjunct faculty, administrators, staff, students, and alumni are eligible to borrow
books and other materials from F. G. Woodward Library. Residents
of Clarksville and nearby communities may apply for a Courtesy Card to
obtain borrowing
privileges from Woodward Library.
B. Identification
The University Identification Card, with a current semester
validation, when appropriate, is to be used by all University borrowers.
All courtesy card holders must show their borrower card and
photo ID.
C. Borrowing Procedures
Books from General Collection, Special Collections, Popular Reading Collection, and Government Document Publications are charged out at the Circulation/Reserve Desk upon
presentation of valid identification. Additionally, materials from the Government
Document Collection can be checked out to residents of the Seventh Congressional district
holding a driver's license or other means of identification.
II. Loan Procedures
A. Loan Periods
Loan periods are determined by patron category and material type.
1. Books from the general and special collections have the following
loan and renewal period. Books may be renewed once.
Faculty: 180 days
-renewal 180 days
Adjunct Faculty: 90 days
-renewal 45 days
Retired Faculty: 180 days
-renewal 180 days
Staff and Administrators: 21 days
-renewal 21 days
Graduate students: 180 days
-renewal 90 days
Undergraduate students: 21 days
-renewal 21 days
Fort Campbell students: 21 days
-renewal 21 days
Special card holders: 21 days
-renewal 21 days
2. Videocassette Tapes/DVDs
Students: 3 days
-1 renewal
Staff: 3 days
-1 renewal
Faculty/Adjunct Faculty: 21 days
-No renewal
Retired Faculty: 7 days
-1 renewal
Special card holders: in-house use
3. Audiovisual Equipment: One day, due before closing on the day
following check-out.
4. Course Reserve Materials: Course instructors set the loan periods
for items placed on reserve. Loan period varies from two hours to one
week. Overnight loans are allowed when specified.
5. Audio Tapes, Kits, Records, and Software:
Students, Staff and Faculty: 7 days
Card Holders: 3 hour in-house
6. Laptops
Students: 3 hours in-house
7. Reference Materials and Periodicals: Do not ordinarily circulate.
In exceptional circumstances, and with approval of Information Desk
personnel, check-out is allowed.
B. Renewals
Most material may be renewed online, in person or by phone.
C. Non-Renewals
Categories of materials which cannot be renewed are: reserve, laptop computers, periodicals, overnight loan, and materials with
"holds."
D Overnight Loans
Materials restricted to overnight circulation may be checked-out only
within the last hour the Information Desk is open and must be returned
within the first hour when the Library is next open. |
