Library Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
Description
The purpose of this committee is to provide ongoing leadership, resources, and support for the fulfillment of action items identified within the Library’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement.
The chair(s) will develop meeting agenda items and all members of the library are welcome to attend for thorough and cohesive discussion. The library representative from the University Diversity Committee shall have the option for a standing agenda item at the Library DEI Committee meetings. Meetings are open to all library faculty, staff, and student assistants.
Meeting Frequency
This committee will meet monthly and on an as needed basis.
Membership
Membership is open to all library faculty and staff interested in the intentional examination of library initiatives and practices to promote a welcoming and safe space for all. Members will serve a staggered two-year term, and may serve two consecutive terms. Library student assistants are welcomed to participate as active members of this committee or in the advisory role to offer insight on DEI initiatives from the student perspective. Membership terms for students are for one year and meant to be flexible and unique to each student's availablilty and interests. The student, unit coordinator, and committee chair(s) will work together to determine student involvement on this committee.
