Obtaining Items Not On The Shelves (item requests, holds, and searches)
When library materials cannot be found on the shelves, patrons should inquire at the Circulation/Reserve Desk. A request or recall may be placed on materials already checked out. If an item has been checked out for more than 28 days, the borrower will be sent a notice requesting that it be returned. When the material is returned, the requesting patron will be sent a notice stating the item is being held at the Circulation/Reserve Desk.
Returning Items
There are two book drops available for returning library material during hours when the Library is closed. One is located outside the Library entrance and the other is located on the inner loop road between the Library and the Clement buildings.
Reserve material must be returned to the Circulation/Reserve Desk inside the library. The book drops are designed for the return of library books only. The Library will not be responsible for other material deposited in the book drops (e.g., video/audio cassettes, records, kits and compact disks).
Fees
The Library does not charge overdue fines. Fees are charged for replacement of lost or damaged materials. Library materials are State property that, when on loan, are the responsibility of the borrower. Replacement fees must be paid before additional materials can be checked out or other library privileges can be restored.
You may pay your fees at the Circulation/Reserve Desk on Level 2 during the hours the library is open. Ask to speak with a Circulation/Reserve supervisor. Fees may be paid with cash or by personal check.
Overdue Material Notices
Library material is overdue when not returned within the specified loan period. For the convenience of borrowers, courtesy notices are sent as reminders. Failure to receive a notice does not alter the borrowers' responsibility for returning library owned material.
Overdue Fines
Woodward Library does not charge overdue fines, except for laptop computers, thumb drives, and Interlibrary Loan materials. Overdue fines are $1.00 per hour for laptops, and $1.00 per day for Interlibrary Loan materials and thumb drives.
Lost and Damaged Charges
The cost of replacing lost or seriously damaged materials or equipment is charged to the borrower. Charges for lost/damaged items are paid at the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Charges include replacement or repair price of the item.
Blocks
Library users with lost/damaged material fees are blocked from library privileges. Users cannot check out materials, including reserves, use interlibrary loan services, or access library database from off-campus until the materials are returned or the fees paid. Payment may be made at the Library's Circulation/Reserve Desk.
