Library Technology Committee
Description
The purpose of the Library Technology Committee is to review issues and concerns pertaining to the existing library information technology and recommend solutions for improvement.
Committee responsibilities include:
- Identifying and exploring new and emerging technologies and systems that can be implemented to enhance access, instruction, research assistance, and outreach activities of the library.
- Providing guidance and direction for implementation of new information technology projects and policies in all areas of library IT systems.
Meeting Frequency
The Library Technology Committee will meet on an as needed basis.
Membership
The committee members will consist of one staff or faculty member from each of the five non-administrative units of the library, plus the Electronic Resources Librarian and one of the library computer technicians. The Electronic Resources Librarian, the Coordinator of Resource Management, and the Coordinator of Technology Resources are ex officio members of the committee. The Coordinator of Technology Resources also serves as the chair of the committee. Each non ex-officio member will be replaced by another representative from the same library unit at the end of their service term. The two library computer technicians will serve in rotation by replacing one another every two years.
Non-ex officio committee members will serve a two-year term, with the option of serving an additional two-year term.
