Library Laptops

The Woodward Library offers approximately 270 Dell Lattitude laptop computers with power adapters and bags for check out to currently enrolled Austin Peay State University (APSU) students. The laptops support Wi-Fi networks and come with Windows 11 and Office 2019 Professional.

Policy

The Library complies with Austin Peay State University Policy Number 4:029 regarding the acceptable use of information technology resources, and all electronic activity on the Library computers must be in accordance with the standards set forth by the University. Failure to abide by these standards may result in the loss of privileges.

Borrowers are responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment. Library laptops are subject to overdue fines and/or replacement fees if not returned, per the Replacement Fee for Lost or Damaged Library Materials Policy. The cost is waived when the laptop is returned undamaged.

Guidelines

Library laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Laptops are available for both short-term and long-term use.

  • Short-term laptops:
    • may be used only in the Library;
    • have a four-hour loan period;
    • may be renewed one time;
    • may accrue fines if overdue.
  • Long-term laptops:
    • may be checked out for the entire semester;
    • are due one day before the end-of-semester commencement;
    • may not be renewed;
    • may accrue fines if overdue.

Student Technology Access Fees (TAF) cover the services. Please handle the laptops with care and avoid leaving them unattended.

Procedures

Laptop Checkouts

To check out a Library laptop, currently enrolled APSU students must:

  1. present a current, valid APSU student ID at the Access Services Desk (one ID = one laptop).
  2. clear any Library fines and resolve any overdue books, recalls, or lost materials charges.

Laptop Returns

To return a Library laptop:

  1. go to the Library's Access Services Desk in person at least 15 minutes before the Library closes and speak to a staff member.
  2. remove any flash drives used with the laptop.
  3. include the power cord and bag, if applicable.
